The beautiful historical centre of Belmonte Calabro (cs), is less than 5 mins drive from this renovation property, in the Hamlet of Santa Barbara, approx 50 mins drive north of Lamezia Terme airport and from its elevated position it benefits from stunning views of the coast. The property is made up of 2 levels of approx. 200mq and comes with approx. 3000mq of land. It is in need of renovation, although some work has already been done, and with the relevant planning permissions could be transformed into a beautiful residence. The ground level is made up of 3 rooms, with a wooden staircase that leads to the upper level that requires completion. The property is connected to mains sewage, electric and water. There is a separate part of the building that has its own access and could be used as B & B.
Belmonte Calabro, a fortified Medieval village with some of its well-preserved walls still visible today, is one of the most interesting and well-preserved in the Southern Tyrrhenian area. The typically Medieval layout of archways and steep steps; traditional houses along narrow, winding cobbled streets open into small piazzas where one can sit and enjoy the local ambiance. It offers a variety of local amenities as well as beautiful churches, a restaurant and café bars.
From its elevated position the village overlooks Belmonte Marina, a 10-minute drive away and it provides all local amenities: grocery shops, butcher, bakery, café bars, post office etc. together with a beach front that offers a variety of beach bars and lidos and a diving school during the summer months. There is also a mountain biking school offering excursions either with your own bike or bikes for hire. Tomato farming is of great importance for the area and the local tomatoes, large and tasty are called “Pomodoro di Belmonte” have received the PDO (Protected Designation Origin) status. Dried figs are also of high quality and well-recognized specialties: in 1910, the first producers were from Belmonte and are still producing excellent products today!!.
Amantea is a 10 minute drive south and is a busy town with all the modern amenities: variety of shops and boutiques, café bars, restaurants/pizzeria, gelatarias, pharmacies, post office etc. this blends well with the charming old historical centre where you can meander through the traditional narrow streets and enjoy the true feel of Calabria.  The marina beach front offers beach bars and lidos and a small Acqua Park, children’s play area and a variety of seasonal activities. It also hosts many festivals and fieras during the year and a daily market selling locally grown fruit and vegetables.
